Westwood and Around

Westwood itself is an interesting place. Following the London Blitz Westwood Quarry was converted into an immensely secure art depositary for priceless artefacts including the crown jewels; in fact Queen Mary came to visit the quarry in 1943. There is also a beautiful church, St Mary the Virgin (photo by Alan Benson)

The National Trust property of Westwood Manor is just minutes walk away whilst other nearby attractions include the marvellous Peto Garden at Iford Manor, shopping and sightseeing amongst the lanes and the terraces of Bradford-on-Avon and superb country walks taking in the River Avon, River Frome and the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The plentiful historic and retail attractions of Bath are only 20 minutes drive away, whilst further a field are numerous National Trust properties, including Stourhead and Dyrham Park and natural wonders such as Stonehenge, the Forest of Dean and the caves at Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole.
